C&S 2017 Look Back

Dear Parents & Guardians,

With Caring and Sharing 2017 now complete, we wanted to share some more of our adventures during the weekend of fun with you.

We hoped your child enjoyed the experience and look forward to welcoming them back to the Camp’s family next year.

Caring & Sharing Team 2017

We’re all in this together!

The Camp Journey: C&S Next Steps

We look forward to next year and hope that all participants and facilitators continue their journey by either attending Caring and Sharing again or by the older groups attending the Encounters camp in 2018.

As part of the next steps post camp, we encourage all of our participants to think about their involvement in future programmes where they can reunite with their C&S friends and facilitators and further their sense of belonging to the community. Whether this includes joining the IVC, attending Bait-ul-ilm, visiting a Youth Club or taking part in upcoming youth programmes – we look forward to supporting you in your next steps!

Thank you for making us proud and for being part of the Caring & Sharing 2017 family!

Day Four: Celebrations & Farewells

As camp draws to a close, the final morning was spent together to reflect upon the highlights from the weekend and to start thinking about the future.

Following an early start for Jamatkhana, everyone had breakfast together and packed their bags in preparation for the final session of camp and farewells. This began with individual group sessions where personalised certificates were awarded to each participant, thanking and congratulating them for their contributions and achievements over the weekend. Participants also had the opportunity to discuss their next steps post camp and make their own Diamond Jubilee pledge.

This was followed by watching the official C&S 2017 video, where everyone re-lived the incredible last few days, where unforgettable friendships and memories were created. The chants, sense of brotherhood and emotion during the video summed up what C&S is all about and ended the weekend on a complete high!

As everyone prepared for departure, camp finished with t-shirt signing, hugs, laughter and goodbyes. A Diamond Jubilee camp that will be remembered for a lifetime and have long lasting memories for all!

Our Camp Value: COMMUNITY

This year’s value is all about being part of ‘One Community.’ The inspiration behind this stems from the launch of the Diamond Jubilee year and having participants and facilitators feeling a sense of belonging and a part of one local and global community. See below for our C&S Community Tree, where participants had the opportunity to express what ‘community’ means to them.

Examples from our ‘Community Tree’ include:

  • Community means when people come together and help each other
  • It is when a group of people show teamwork
  • We must work together, unite together and have fun
  • Community is when we come together as One Jamat
  • It is all about belonging to something – as an Ismaili community, school community and family community
  • Being with friends and family

C&S Emoji Themed Disco

We ended our final full day at camp in true style, with the eagerly awaited C&S disco. We kicked off with the official Diamond Jubilee dance. This was followed by the latest tunes, swaying glow sticks, face painting stalls and a personalised photo booth…we ended the weekend with a celebration!

Day Three: Building Bridges

Sunday night began with ‘Battle of the Bridges’ where each group competed against each other to build the strongest bridge with limited resources. The activity promoted ‘building bridges’ between different communities from different backgrounds, and promoting integration.

A Volunteering Visit

This year we were honoured to be visited by Major and the IVC Executive Committee, who recognised the contribution of the cadets and delivered an inspirational message about the significance of seva to participants. A huge thank you to all uniformed and non-uniformed cadets for their seva over the Caring & Sharing weekend!

The Epic C&S Water Fight!

In true C&S style, the water fight did not fail to disappoint this year. With the entire camp at the ready and raring to go with their water guns…the smiles and laughter made every minute worthwhile!
